Kayak, Paddleboard & Yoga Classes

We offer classes at all levels for Sea Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP), SUP Yoga, and Paddling fitness. Classes are a combination of on-the-beach and on-water lessons providing the perfect outdoor classroom and learning environment. Our certified instructors provide expert knowledge and high-end instruction that is geared toward beginners in a safe and fun learning environment.

Learn to Kayak

A foundational course in kayaking. Learn how to outfit your kayak, safety procedures, boat control, and balance and technical paddling skills. Class is held in the calm waters of the turning basin at our Chicago River location

Sea Kayaking

In this 3-week progressive course, you will learn all about sea kayaking, paddling techniques, rescues and everything you need to be safe and feel comfortable on the water.

Each week we will build upon the last, introducing new concepts and ideas, rescues, techniques, and refining skills. Each 4-hour class is a combination of classroom, on the beach, and on-water activities providing the perfect outdoor classroom and learning environment. Our certified instructors provide expert knowledge and high-end instruction that is geared toward beginners.

Duration: 4hrs per class for 3 consecutive weeks
Intermediate Kayaking

Ready for the next level in your sea kayaking training? Our intermediate sea kayaking class will thoroughly advance your paddling skills.

A certified instructor will cover:

Hip snap development (controlling your boat with your body)

Self rescues (paddle float and cowboy rescues)

Bow rescue

Eskimo roll & rescue

Boat types

Paddling strokes:

  • High / Low braces
  • Sculling draw stroke
  • Underwater recovery draw

Experience: Must have previous kayaking experience or completed our Introduction to Kayaking course

Intro to Stand-Up Paddleboard

The Intro to SUP course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to enjoy the sport of standup paddle boarding. You will learn how to easily stand up, paddle in a straight line, turn and control your board using technique and skill. Upon completion of this introductory class, you will be able to confidently paddle and maneuver your board on any calm body of water.

Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga

Try the fastest growing sport in Chicago, Stand Up Paddleboarding, (or SUP) cleverly combined with Yoga. No, it’s not for extreme athletes, its an incredible way to practice yoga on water while building whole body strength and balance. The paddleboard makes a perfect yoga mat, it’s wide, stable and challenging.
